Genetic Testing

NCI is proud to offer genetic testing as part of medication management. Genetic testing allows our prescriber Shawnte Farmer, DNP, MSN, RN, PMHNP-BC to know what forms of medications are most effective. It reduces the time needed to find the medication that works best for you and warns of potential medicines that will not work or potentially harm. Genetic testing also tests for the MTHFR mutation that prevents the body from properly metabolizing certain medications. Genetic testing is usually covered by insurance and is normally free to those who elect to use it.
